“ | A special operative that combines attacks using dual-wielded pistols and hacking tech. Agents keep a low profile, staying out of the spotlight for the sake of long-distance attacks, inflicting status ailments, manipulating enemies to attack each other with skilled hacking, and setting traps to toy with their foes. | ” |

"An expert marksman and manipulative hacker", Agent is one of the eight classes of 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. It is based on the present timeline and available from the start.
Agent is considered the successor of Hacker and Trickster from 7th Dragon 2020 and 7th Dragon 2020-II.
Overview[]
Agents are the fastest class in the game, combining the marksmanship of the Trickster and the hacking abilities of the Hacker from the 2020 series. They play a support role to the party, disrupting enemy lines with their hacking and making them more vulnerable to the rest of the team. Their gun skills are no slouch either, dealing bonus damage to flying enemies. Having an Agent around greatly helps with the party's stamina during a long dungeon trek, though their low LF and MN caps their capability in boss battles.
Strategy[]
It is recommended to invest in LIFE and MANA bonus at some point to remedy the Agent's low base LF and MN. Instead of just focusing on one branch of skills it is recommended to either go both or exclusively use Gun skills, as Hacking is not always reliable depending on the party formation.
From the Hacking tree, scapegoat.exe is valuable even at Lv. 1. because it replenishes the party's MN while doing great damage. The alternative skill, madstrife.exe, is mostly only useful if the party is desperate in need of diversion, even then sleepmode.exe might be the better choice in this situation. A note to keep in mind however is that some bosses are highly resistant to Hacking. In order to have a decent chance to hack a boss, Hack Weakness is recommended, which can be achieved by either having another Agent at standby or by using TROY skills, although the latter option is rather lackluster in itself. Once hacked, The Agent can either use scapegoat.exe for MN restoration or lostpower.exe for the most powerful debuff in the game (all stat debuff which stacks with other stat dehancements) while also dealing great damage. You may consider investment in Quick Hack for easy MN refill and a free hacking opportunity.
Otherwise, the Agent can focus on Gun skills. Aiming Shot is good for sniping Rabi enemies without worrying about their high evasion; Air Assault lets them quickly clear random encounters. Knee Break has instant priority and a chance to Stun but is not very reliable and does not deal much higher damage compared to other skills. Their most important skill is Rush Shot: multi-hit skill that is invaluable against single-target enemies and in combination with Assassin's React. Assassin's React activates whenever they land a critical hit, and combined with Hide and the Killer Band accessories, Rush Shot has a very high chance to crit at least once, allowing them to gain Extra Turns up to 3 times. Jump Shot can be used at the last turn, guaranteeing extra hits during the next turns and therefore an extra chance to critical hit. The downside with this build however is 1) it takes 2 turns to set up Assassin's React and Hide, and 2) the MN cost of Rush Shot is incredibly high at 15 MN when maxed. Therefore it is strongly recommended to have a way to restore MN, whether it be through scapegoat.exe, consumables or another party member like Duelist or Fortuner. Using Bush Trap or simply normal attack on the first turn helps save MN.
Party Combinations[]
In inactive parties, the Agent has one of the fastest support charge rates, allowing them to easily dispense Buddy skills through the course of a fight to break enemy buffs. The Buddy skill hits twice, which gives it a higher chance to break enemy buffs if one hit is not enough. The skill has a chance of inflicting Freeze, Burn, or Hacking weakness in addition to doing damage.
- Duelist: Duelist offer MN restoration, which is very valuable for non-Hacking Agents. The Agent can use the TROY skills with the Duelist's elemental skills, giving them another chance to activate Assassin's React.
- Fortuner: Assassin's React pairs well with Follower React. If lucky, Follow React will activate consecutively, giving the Fortuner lots of extra turns. Fortuner also offers MN restoration, which is very valuable for non-Hacking Agents. The Agent's Buddy skill and sleepmode.exe provide more targets for Oracle skills, especially helpful if the others in the Fortuner's frontline don't inflict ailments.
- Mage: Like Duelist, the Agent can use the TROY skills with the Mage's elemental skills, giving them another chance to activate Assassin's React.

Etymology[]
In espionage jargon, an agent is the person who does the spying; a citizen of one country who is recruited by a second country to spy on or work against his own country or a third country. In popular usage, this term is often erroneously applied to a member of an intelligence service who recruits and handles agents.
