History[]
7th Dragon[]
“ | I think she isn't human. Her looks never change. She's cold and unfeeling, but looks like a young girl. If you look close, though, she's got a skirt, and she's careful about her hairpins... She must have some cute clothes somewhere! | ” |
— Arietta's intel.

In 7th Dragon, Emel is the ruler of Pleroma.
When Nyala and Haze appears, she reveals that she comes from a different world, Tokion. She came to Eden to prevent the same thing that happened to Tokion but unfortunately she failed. After the meeting with Nowari, Faro and some other from Pleroma Nowari ordered the security guards to imprison Emel in jail.
7th Dragon 2020[]
“ | Was once the U.S. President's Aide and Secretary Of Defense, later becoming the acting head of Murakumo. Her true identity however is beng the denizen of an otherworld race called Hypnos, whose civilization was all but wiped out by Dragons. Among the ranks of the surviving Hypnos, Emel posseses strong, murderous feelings toward dragons. She first appears as a full-grown woman, but turned into a little girl after having used most of her powers to escape from Mizuchi's attack. She took over from Kirino for a while and led Murakumo in the early part of the second dragon invasion, but later fell in battle against True Dragon Formalhout. Her sacrifice saved Unit 13 from certain doom. | ” |
— Character Description, 7th Dragon 2020 & 2020-II Visual Collection.
|
Emel makes her first appearance as a tall woman in the prologue talking to the US President, Jack Muller, while acting as the US President's aide and Secretary Of Defense for the Dragon hunting expeditions in the United States. Though not mentioned until later on, she was also responsible for the formation of SECT 11.
After Murakumo leader, Natsume Hikasa disappears, Natsume transforms herself into a human-dragon hybrid Mizuchi by developing the Dragon Chronicle from three Emperor Dragon samples. Natsume then goes on a killing spree in Japan and later the US, inciting Emel to travel to Tokyo to see the rumored Unit 13 she has heard about overseas.
At some point off-screen Emel's body reverts to the size of a child and she later travels to Tokyo to Murakumo's base where she reunites with her younger sister Aytel and meets Unit 13 for the first time, learning directly of their feats in defeating the Dragon invaders. There, she reveals that she and Aytel had their home planet Hypnos was destroyed by a Dragon invasion hundreds of years ago and they came to Earth in search of people who could hunt the Dragons.
In the final chapter, She watches Unit 13 from the ground defeating the True Dragon Nyala at the top of the space-warped Tokyo Tower alongside Aytel.
After the credits sequence, she and Aytel are seen walking towards a wounded and fallen Takehaya in a deserted street.
7th Dragon 2020-II[]
Following the conclusion of the first dragon war, Emel went around the globe, coordinating with many dragon extermination groups. Though the immediate threat has vanished, she is fully aware that there are 6 more True Dragons in existence.
Sure enough, True Dragon Formalhout's attack on the Tokyo Sky Tower comes to pass, and she temporarily takes over as the leader of Murakumo while Kirino was incapacitated.
During her time in command, Emel took dubious steps to ensure victory against the dragons, among them creating artificial Luciers. Out of all the artificial Luciers, only one would come to be known as the "Dragon Slayer Weapon", and is the only being in existence that has the ATL Code, which is the alchemic know-how to create the Dragon Slayer Sword from the mythical metal known as Orihalcon forged from three synthesized dragon hearts.
Emel was slowly beginning to realize that her orders and rash actions were met with disapproval despite being necessary for humanity's survival. To this end, she occasionally confided with Unit 13's head. The latter either assures her that she's doing the right thing or cautions her to consider the feelings of others.
When Formalhout invaded the Diet Building, Emel herself volunteered for the suicide mission, personally taking on the True Dragon despite knowing fully well that the odds of survival were close to none.
Emel inevitably passes away at Formalhout's hands.
Later on, Cheron will find a strange key around the Diet Building compound and asks Unit 13 to find out what it is for. The key was matched to a locked bookshelf in the research ward that contained Emel's diary.
Emel's spirit will later appear in the Wangan Sky Belvedere and assist Unit 13 in breaking free from the quantum waves released by the Emperor Dragon Insomnia.
7th Dragon III Code: VFD[]
“ | Sisters from the planet Hypnos that was destroyed by a True Dragon in a far-off galaxy. Upon the destruction of their planet, they took the form of spiritual entities and followed the dragons to Earth. Once they arrived, they passed on their wisdom to humankind and aided them in their own battle against the dragons. | ” |
— Introduction from 7th Dragon III Code: VFD.
|
Emel and Aytel are known by the ISDF and Nodens Company as they are recorded in history. Yoritomo and other characters that know of them often call them the Hypnos Sisters, referencing their origins.
In Chapter 4 of Code: VFD, Emel is investigating the Ladyin ruins in Kazan Republic, accompanied by Brijilt, Sailas and Nagiri. She is considered the leader figure. Her hatred towards dragons grow and she becomes more unstable as they explore the ruins with Unit 13. This causes her to summon blue Dragonsbane and knocking Nagiri out. Half-transformed into a dragon, she ventures further in the ruins to kill all dragons in sight, eventually reaching Haze. By the time Unit 13 reaches the top, Emel has already turned into a True Dragon, weaking Aytel's spirit in the process. She fights Yuma while Unit 13 fights Haze. After Haze is defeated, Emel snatches the Dragonslayer out of Unit 13's hands while Yuma is distracted, running away to Pleroma to kill more dragons.
Once Unit 13 reaches Emel in Pleroma, she fuses with Aytel to become the True Dragon Hypnos, begging Unit 13 to kill her and save the world.
Quotes[]
- "What are you doing here? I don't see any Dragons that need slaying. Nyala must be defeated. Don't you dare betray the trust I placed in you. Not just my trust, but that of Nowari and Faro... As subordinates go, they're top-notch. Do it for them."
— Emel in 7th Dragon, after clearing the Hypnos sub-quest.
Trivia[]
- There are two comedy scenes that features Emel, Menas and Aytel in the Kazan Mission/Quest office.
