| “ | Tiamat's design follows the tradition of the powerful, crimson Emeperor Dragon that appears in the early stages. In contrast to the bipedal one from the prior mission, this dragon was given a longer neck and a quasi-quadruped style. Though the fundamental design has already been decided, I had to redo the color scheme and details a few times, making it a bit of a laborious process. The shiny emerald minerals lining many body parts gave a unique touch, but also happened to match the dragon's crystal breath ability in-game which was a pleasant surprise for me. In keeping with the setting, the dragon was also given some yellow accents that are characteristic with armored units. | ” |

Etymology[]
"Tiamat" is a female deity in Babylonian mythology who mates with Abzu, the subterranean ocean, to produce the gods.
Trivia[]
- Tiamat has a lot of things in common with Warcry, another Emperor Dragon from 7th Dragon 2020:
- Both dragons have red scales.
- They are the first major bosses in their respective games.
- Both Warcry and Tiamat won their first battle against Unit 13, but were eventually slain by them in a subsequent encounter after sustaining injuries from third-party attacks.
