Personality[]
As the leader and members are customized based on player preferences as well as dialogue choices, Unit 13's members are essentially blank slates.
However, the selectable voices have specific personalities tied to them regardless of attached class. For example, Minori Chihara's rendition has a cool, almost emotionless vibe, while Rie Tanaka's performance displays a streak of sadism.
History[]
7th Dragon 2020[]
The group that would later be known as Unit 13 was among the youths with S-class potential summoned by Murakumo as participants in the organization's 75th induction exam, tasked to hunt down monsters that were contained in the Metropolitan Government Building. Though inexperienced, their group performed exceptionally well, even joining the Unit 10 evaluators in fighting a large monster that was later identified as a Dragon.
As more dragons invade, almost all of the examinees were wiped out, with only their group barely managing to survive. A month after the exam, they become officially connected to Murakumo, and were instrumental in taking back the Metropolitan Government Office as well as other locations from the dragons' control.
In between extermination missions, Unit 13 also assisted in rescue operations, facility construction and improvement, even taking community-based requests handed to them by Cheron, who was part of an international aid NGO.
The members of Unit 13 were later told by Aytel that they were among the few individuals with the potential to be this world's Dragon Hunters; a fact that was later proven in the Kokubunji Scorching Factory, where they were put through several trials by SKY, a youth gang that originally opposed Murakumo.
Unit 13 would eventually succeed in driving all the dragons in Tokyo to extinction.
7th Dragon 2020-II[]
A year has passed since the first dragon invasion. Unit 13's legendary exploits have become well-known around Tokyo and even abroad.
Though dragons have gone extinct, monsters still run rampant due to the lingering effects of the Dragonsbane flower. The SDF and other Murakumo operatives can usually handle them, but in the event that stronger ones emerge, Unit 13 is called on to assist.
As a result of gaps in service, the group's members have become somewhat weak, with only their basic skills remaining.
A second wave of dragons under the influence of True Dragon Formalhout suddenly invaded the Tokyo Sky Tower during a test broadcast. Unit 13 will reprise their role of hunting them once more, this time to prevent a even greater scale of destruction and loss than before.
Aside from members old and new, Unit 13 will also have another operative class at their disposal, and can eventually recruit genetically-reproduced demi-humans called Luciers to their roster.
Trivia[]
- Talking to members in the room will simply have them greeting the leader. Their greeting will change over time, indicating a progress in team relations.
- The tone of the greeting will also vary depending on the situation. For example, following a tragedy, the response may not be as pleasant since the team member is in mourning/trying to process the loss.
- If in possession of food ingredients, the leader also has the option to ask a team member to prepare boxed lunch. There are three possible boxed lunch results that emerge at random: Regular, high-quality, and failed.
- Team members on the current roster can also be taken out on dates in the lounge's VIP room.
- While the members of Unit 13 are mostly left unnamed in-game, they are given special monikers for promotional material and goods:
- Student Style male: Kirimaru, female: Touko.
- Agent Style male: Nikujaga, female: Momoko.
- Powerful Style male: Dynamo, female: Sambo-chan.
- Ungro Style male: Pain, female: Pink Harley.
- Otaku Style male: Red, female: Chelsea.
- Lucier Style female: Citrine.
- The Idol and Male Lucier models were not given special names.
- In the 7th Dragon 2020 and 7th Dragon 2020-II Visual Collection, there is a small comical skit in a concept illustration of Gatou and the female Samurai where he mistakes the kanji reading of her name 刀子 (Touko/トウコ) and pronounces it as "Katanako" instead, reading the 刀 (katana) kanji in its common reading as "Katana" rather than its alternative pronunciation of とう (tou).
